Noboribetsu Manseikaku Day Bath: Sulfur Water and a Milky Cold Plunge

Noboribetsu Manseikaku Day Bath: Sulfur Water and a Milky Cold Plunge

Quick answers

  • Milky sulfur water, the classic Noboribetsu bath, indoors and outside
  • A Finnish sauna (renovated in 2021) where you pour your own löyly
  • A rare cold plunge of hot spring water cooled to 17–19°C, plus a spring-water plunge
  • Day bathing 1,300 yen: 7:00–9:30 and 13:30–20:00 (last entry 18:00)

Noboribetsu Manseikaku is a hot spring hotel in Noboribetsu Onsen with the town's signature milky sulfur water, and it is open to day visitors too.

The Finnish sauna

Renovated in 2021, the Finnish sauna lets you pour water on the stones yourself, so you can make the steam as strong as you like.

Two cold plunges

After the sauna there are two cold plunges. One is a rarity in Hokkaido: the hot spring water itself, cooled to 17–19°C, milky like the baths, not too cold and not too warm. The other uses Noboribetsu's spring water and feels crisp.

Cooling off

There are two chairs each indoors and by the outdoor bath, and two reclining lounge chairs outside, so you can lie back in the breeze.

The baths

Both the indoor and outdoor baths are large, with milky, smooth water that leaves you feeling fresh: the real Noboribetsu bath.

Drinks after the bath

The changing room has four kinds of drinks, such as lemon water, at set times: 16:00–21:00 on weekdays, 18:00–21:00 at weekends and on holidays, and 7:00–9:00 in the morning.

Day bath plans with meals

With a reservation, there are day bath plans with the breakfast buffet, and with lunch on weekends and holidays.
